I was watching the voice last night. (Top 10) and there were some fantastic performances, but I need to write about Koryn Hawthorne this morning.
If you want to be moved, powerfully moved, in a way you rarely will be, watch her performance of Make it Rain from last night. It is so DAMN good, I don't care what genre you sing or love, this performance crosses all gamuts.
It will stir you up inside your soul.
I am listening to it again now as a I blog and I can not get over how she pulls us in and commands the performance. She takes it slow and lets it build and it is crazy how high she takes us.
That rasp in her voice singing high and building takes you on a serious emotional journey and gets you to just feel...so...much in 3 minutes. After she performed last night I had to take a moment to recover. Literally.
Think about SONG CHOICE! Singers finding your song, the one that shows what you can do best, whether it is range, emotion, drama, joy. This is the PERFECT song for Koryn Hawthorne. It was so real sounding, so human and raw, everything a song could be.
Sing well,
